Materials for Early Mathematical Thinking (EMT):
The Early Mathematical Thinking Teacher’s Assessment Tool Kit is comprised of the following materials:
- Grades Pre K-4 student screening card prompts and corresponding mathematics cards. Each grade level contains multiple card prompts designed to assess students’ understanding of skills and concepts that are identified as entry points into that grade level.
- Grades Pre K-4 student interview card prompts. These card prompts are divided into grade level spans (PreK/1; 1/2; 3/4;) and intended to be administered if a student has difficulty with the entry level skills and concepts from the screening prompts. For example, if a student has difficulty with the entry level for Grade 3, the teacher should administer the interview for Grades 1/2.
- Grades Pre K-4 Math Milestones Continuum identifies concepts and skills that form a developmental learning trajectory.
