Maine Energy Education Curriculum (MEEC)

Selected Maine teachers will have the opportunity to:

  • Work with other energy minded teachers from around the state of Maine to launch and field test Maine’s first energy curriculum for grades 4-8.

  • Work with the Maine Math and Science Alliance to explore how the new MEEC utilizes the national standards, the revised Maine Learning Results, research-based findings related to energy topics, and inquiry-based pedagogy.

  • Experience professional development training and have access to educational resources and ongoing statewide support.

  • Receive a $300 stipend for attending the summer one day training and be reimbursed for mileage and meals. Overnight accommodations the evening before the one day training will also be provided if necessary.

  • Receive an additional $500 stipend after the fall field test is completed and feedback is submitted.

  • Selected Maine teachers must agree to:

  • Attend a one day summer training held at the MMSA office in Augusta during which they will be introduced to the materials and field test feedback protocol.

  • Field test materials with students in the fall of 2008 and provide feedback.


  • Workshop dates:
    Grades 4-5 - 8/12/2008
    Grades 6-7 - 8/19/2008
    Each workshop is being held at the MMSA Augusta office.
