Curriculum Topic Study (CTS)

Summary

Curriculum Topic Study (CTS) is an National Science Foundation (NSF) funded Teacher Professional Continuum (TPC) project that is developing a coordinated set of science and mathematics materials to help K-12 educators deepen their understanding of the important science and mathematics topics they teach. Curriculum Topic Study builds a bridge between state and national standards, research on students' ideas in science, and opportunities for students to learn science and mathematics through improved teacher practice. The project has produced three books (a fourth publication is pending), a web site, and offers national professional development to help teachers and professional developers utilize science and mathematics national standards and cognitive research to improve teacher practice and content-focused professional development. WestEd is the partnering organization.
